Etsy order status vs production status

Etsy, Shopify, and your bench use the word “status” for different facts. Mixing them is how a paid custom order sits in “processing” for a week with nobody assigned to the art.

Four different pictures

Marketplace order status is Etsy’s receipt: paid, completed, cancelled, in whatever language Etsy shows that week.

Payment status is whether money cleared. Useful for whether you should start. Useless as a production board.

Fulfillment status is whether the channel thinks items shipped. In Shopify that is unfulfilled, partial, or fulfilled. On Etsy it is their shipping/complete language. Still not “art approved.”

Production / workflow status is your shop’s sequence: missing photo, proof sent, on the press, ready to pack.

Why Orderflow exists in this picture

Orderflow is the production/workflow layer for Shopify orders. It does not replace Etsy. It does not import Etsy. After a connector creates a Shopify order, Orderflow can hold the production picture while Shopify and Etsy keep payment and fulfillment.

Use Etsy for the channel. Use Shopify for the operational order. Use Orderflow statuses for the making. When you save a status in Orderflow, Shopify gets a status- tag you can filter on.
