How to use Shopify to fulfill Etsy orders

Fulfilling an Etsy order from Shopify means the sale happened on Etsy, but the packing and label work happens on a Shopify order that a connector created for you.

That is not the same as “Shopify is now your Etsy shop.” Etsy still owns the listing and the customer’s Etsy receipt. Shopify holds a working copy of the order if your connector put one there.

The path from sale to shipment

Etsy → connector → Shopify order → production / order management → fulfill in Shopify → tracking back to Etsy where the connector supports it.

Each arrow is someone else’s job except the production step. The connector decides whether the Shopify order appears quickly, whether the customer email is present, and whether a Shopify fulfillment writes tracking onto the Etsy receipt.

What to confirm in the connector

Before you change how you ship, check:

• New Etsy orders appear in Shopify Orders
• The Shopify order name is something your team can search
• Customer email is present if you need to message them from Shopify or a lookup page
• Personalization notes or photos landed somewhere you can find
• Fulfilling in Shopify updates Etsy the way you expect, or does not

If tracking does not go back, you will still ship from Shopify and update Etsy by hand. That can be acceptable. It should not be a surprise.

Production before fulfillment

Paid and unfulfilled on Etsy, and paid and unfulfilled in Shopify, still do not mean the object is in a box. For made-to-order work, fulfill when production is actually done. A Ready to Ship production stage is more honest than treating every open Etsy order as today’s shipping list.

Using Orderflow

Orderflow is not the connector and does not print labels. After the Etsy order exists in Shopify, you can move it through production statuses, then fulfill in Shopify as you already do.

One practical pattern: when you mark the order Ready to Ship in Orderflow, Orderflow writes a status-Ready to Ship tag on the Shopify order. Open a Shopify Orders view filtered to that tag, then buy labels only for that list.
